NEW ! ! AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Classes NEW ! !
AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program ( Socializing, Training, Activity, Responsibility) is for young dogs under one year old. I am offering the new AKC S.T.A.R Puppy classes in a modular format, on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 PM in the Pablo Bay subdivision off San Pablo Rd.
Cost of the six lessons is $60.00. Puppies should at least have their second series of shots to begin the lessons. Payment and Proof of vet care is necessary at the first lesson.
Lessons will be held on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 7:30pm. You can begin on any Wednesday, and complete six (6) classes to earn your STAR Puppy certificate and medal. You can call Penny at 710-0393 or email me at email@example.com for more information about how this class works.
Puppies that are signed up for the class will be required to attend six classes to receive their AKC S.T.A.R Puppy award. Each puppy will work on his skills at his pace, as he progresses through the six weeks. During those six weeks there will be opportunities to socialize with other puppies and people. At any time, if a lesson has to be missed, you can either make it up on the alternate day or just come the next week.
Once you and your puppy have completed the six weeks and learned all the skills, you will be eligible to receive your S.T.A.R. Puppy certification.
Training will cover basic puppy manners and obedience skills as well as as socializing with people and other puppies; basic commands such as sit, down, come, stay and the recall (all puppy level); loose lead walking; grooming and handling, etc. Puppies and handlers will be tested and scored throughout the six week program, and you will receive a brochure at the first lesson you attend, explaining the test items and scoring. More information on the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program can be found on the AKC website at www.akc.org. Type STAR Puppy in the search box.
CANINE GOOD CITIZEN TEST
Canine Good Citizen testing can be done by appointment only. Cost is $15.00 for the test. I will need a couple of weeks notice so that I can get the necessary helpers to assist with the testing. Testing will be done in the Pablo Bay subdivision.
My method consists of positive reinforcement at all phases of learning. This method of training is readily accepted by new trainers and sometimes approached with skepticism by trainers who have previously trained with the older conventional methods of training. Once the conventional trainers see the difference in their dog’s attitude and response to training I usually have an enthusiastic convert. ITS SO MUCH FUN for both trainer and dog.
What you Need to Do
